Mama Veronica Edimo “Auntie” was born on the 11th May 1946 in Buea. Her parents of blessed memory were Mama Sophie Ngomune Edimo and Papa Thomas Nhomba Edimo. They raised 5 children with “Auntie” being the last amongst her siblings. She obtained her primary education certificate in Buea Town in 1958 and furthered her education in Nigeria with several certifications in Finance and Accounting. In 1961 she started her very first job with the Department of Treasury in Buea as the person in charge of printing salaries. She later had several promotions over the years and retired after 30years of service as the Principal cashier. As a result of her hard work, dedication, integrity and professionalism, she received two awards of recognition by the government during her years of service.
Mama Veronica lived her life to the fullest of her ability. She was very God fearing and would put God first in her everyday activities. She was committed to her Catholic Women Association (CWA) till her departure to eternity. As a person, she was very real, not only to herself but to everyone around her. Mama was an inspiration to her children, family and friends. Being a very loving and kind hearted person, she will often go out of her way to help anyone in need. She was also very supportive and very encouraging not just to her children but to all that came across her in life. Mama maintained an “open door policy” to all. She was an excellent cook who loved to entertain people around her.
Following her transition to our Heavenly Father, she lives behind 5 children: Kenneth, Ivo, Susie, Maria and Yetna Edimo and grand children: Nat Collins, Sophia, Denzel, Tambi, Ivo Jr., Iliana and Amani Edimo. She also leaves behind her only surviving sibling Lillian Sandy, host of family, Njeuma sisters and friends to mourn her. Mama will be greatly missed by many amongst family and friends. She made a lot of friends in Buea (her place of residence), other parts of Cameroon and in the United States of America where she spent a couple years.
“Mama” your very contagious smile, simplicity, selflessness, teachings and most importantly, your concern for others will live with us forever. Though you are gone to The Almighty God to rest, you will always be in our hearts.
We love you Mom but God loves you most.
Rest in Peace………….Till we meet again.
